Understanding the Observer Effect and How To Leverage its Benefits

This course explores how one’s performance on a given task can be improved by observing someone else perform that same task—a phenomenon called the observer effect. The observer effect has many applied benefits for behavior analysts and practitioners in the areas of behavioral science, training and development and leadership development. The course includes a brief review of historical observational learning research and a comprehensive analysis of recent applied research on the observer effect. The course concludes with techniques for using the observer effect to make a positive impact on various clinical and organizational applications of behavior analysis.
